  Ten years after the beginning of the Argentine lawsuit against the crimes of the Franco regime, this work provides a general overview of the proceeding, analyzing the legal grounds and the main outcomes and challenges of this universal jurisdiction prosecution. The lawsuit has provoked a noteworthy increase of the visibility, in Spain and internationally, of the crimes of the Franco regime and of the demands of the victims, becoming a topical issue. Likewise, there has been a significant intensification of the pressure on political parties and the judicial system to put an end to the impunity of these crimes. The Argentine proceeding has given recognition and credibility to the victims and their demands. Definitive steps have been made towards the achievement of many of them.
