Thoai's focus includes evaluations of innovative health systems/health service delivery approaches to inform the public/private sectors to improving access to global health policies and programmes with a special focus on sexual and reproductive health. As part of his Ph.D. thesis at LSHTM, Thoai examined different approaches to improve access to safe abortion service delivery in developing settings, including home-based and mid-physician service provision. He also explored factors affecting the provision and uptake of medical abortion in Vietnam’s public health facilities through conducting a national survey among service providers and end-users.
