Michael S. Shafer, Ph.D. is the Director of the Center for Applied Behavioral Health Policy in the College of Public Programs at Arizona State University where he holds the rank of Professor in the School of Social Work. Dr. Shafer’s research interests have addressed topics as diverse as the effectiveness of telemedicine in training substance abuse counselors to the effectiveness of mental health courts and other diversionary programs for persons with co-occurring disorders.
