Biography
Juliet Spencer joined the faculty in 2003 after spending several years as a drug discovery scientist in the biotechnology industry. She has an active research laboratory that investigates herpes viruses and the way they manipulate host immune responses. She has been recognized with the Arthur Furst Award for outstanding research and the Ellen Weaver Award for mentoring women in science. In 2013 she established the Fletcher Jones Microscopy Center, bringing advanced imaging technology to USF. In 2014, she was named the Deans Scholar for the Sciences, and in 2015 she received the Distinguished Research Award. She is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and tries to infect every student with her contagious enthusiasm for the life sciences.
