Post-operative pulmonary complications are one of the important causes of morbidity and mortality in Neurosurgical patients. The common pulmonary complications include pneumonia, postoperative atelectasis, respiratory failure, pulmonary embolism and neurogenic pulmonary edema. Prompt and timely management decreases the morbidity and mortality. Post-operative pulmonary complications are usually associated with poor neurological outcome. Prevention, timely recognition and appropriate prompt management are of paramount importance for the Neuroanesthesiologists and Neurosurgeons. Here, we report a case of hemoptysis in postoperative period causing hypoxemia and blood causing lung collapse in a patient, which was managed in time before it could have led to catastrophic events.
