Obesity and metabolic disorders are increasing worldwide and are closely associated with impaired glucose metabolism and appetite dysregulation. Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) is an important incretin hormone involved in insulin secretion and satiety control. Food-derived approaches that enhance endogenous GLP-1 secretion may provide a practical strategy for metabolic health management. To evaluate the effects of a food-derived GLP-1 formula on GLP-1 secretion, insulin responses and appetite regulation in adults with elevated body fat levels. Fifteen participants were enrolled in a randomized crossover clinical trial. Subjects consumed either a food-derived GLP-1 formula containing Bifidobacterium breve, rocket apple extract powder and probio-kombu black tea powder or placebo. Following overnight fasting, blood samples and appetite assessments were collected over 240 min. The food-derived GLP-1 Formula increased circulating GLP-1 levels, enhanced insulin responses and reduced subjective food craving and appetite compared with placebo. The food-derived GLP-1 formula promoted endogenous GLP-1 secretion and improved appetite-related responses, suggesting potential applications in nutritional strategies for appetite control and metabolic health support.
