Nerve blocks involve the administration of local anesthetics or other medications near specific nerves to interrupt pain signals and provide temporary or long-lasting pain relief. This article aims to shed light on the benefits and applications of nerve blocks, exploring how they work, their uses in various medical conditions, and the potential risks involved.

Understanding nerve blocks

Nerve blocks work by preventing pain signals from reaching the brain, effectively numbing the area where the block is administered [1-3]. The procedure involves injecting medication, such as local anesthetics or steroids, into or around specific nerves or nerve bundles.
