Pharmaceutical biotechnology has fundamentally transformed the way medicines are discovered, developed and delivered. While traditional pharmaceutical research has largely focused on chemically synthesized drugs, biotechnology integrates molecular biology, genetics, immunology and bioengineering to produce therapies that directly target the biological mechanisms underlying disease. This transition represents more than a technological advancement; it signifies a paradigm shift toward precision medicine, where treatments are increasingly tailored to individual patients rather than broad disease categories. The growing influence of biotechnology is driven by a deeper understanding of cellular and molecular processes. Advances in genomic sequencing, proteomics and systems biology have enabled researchers to identify disease associated genes, proteins and signaling pathways with remarkable accuracy. Instead of merely alleviating symptoms, biotechnology based therapies seek to modify disease progression by intervening at its biological origin.
