Abstract

Solar Energy Could Light Up Africa and Global Businesses See Opportunity

Elie KANA, Engineer Projects and Designs Engineer at Econet Leo S.A

Adding to the power availability for our telecommunication/company we are currently designing a solar renewable energy solutions for Econet Leo SA,a leader of telecommunication companies of Burundi at the two mains network switch Centers, with network data centers’ s consuming more and more electricity. A sustainable, efficient alternative power should be a good investment for the Company. The future’s looking bright for solar power. More and more commercial and industrial enterprises are actively considering investing in solar plants to reduce their long-term exposure to high energy costs. Residential interest has also been growing steadily, with concerns for the environment and having clean power also a factor. It’s all good news, but even better news for Africa. We have over 3000 hours of strong sun a year in Africa. A powerful number. And one that makes the sun really work for us. Scientists and other experts in different fields are predicting that Solar power may be the earth’s greatest source of energy by 2050. The attendance on the International Conference on Renewable Energy and Resources will contribute to improve our future projects and experience in cost savings and efficiencies of renewable solar energy which are becoming ever more apparent to African companies.
