Alcohol dependence remains one of the most prevalent and difficult-to-treat substance use disorders worldwide. Traditional treatments, including pharmacotherapy and cognitive- behavioural interventions, often demonstrate limited long-term efficacy and high relapse rates. In recent years, there has been a resurgence of interest in the therapeutic potential of psychedelics particularly substances such as psilocybin, Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), and ketamine as adjuncts in treating various psychiatric conditions, including addiction.
