Objective:aimed to determine the size of third ventricle among adult patients at the University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, Northwest Ethiopia, 2019.

Methods: A cross-sectional prospective study design was carried outfrom April, 2019 to August, 2019. The study participants were assessed by using a structured questionnaire and checklists. The data were entered into EPI INFO version 7 and then transferred into SPSS version 20 for analysis. Age and sex with the height and diameter of third ventricle were assessed by Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient. ANOVA (mean difference between age groups) were performed. The p-value less than 0.05was considered as statistically significant.

Results: The mean third ventricle heightwere13.57mm, 13.52mmand diameter were2.98mm, 2.56mm, in males and females respectively. In relation to gender, the measurement of the third ventricle was greater in males as compared to females.

Conclusions: In total, 165 patients satisfied the inclusion criteria. This study found a direct relationship between the third ventricle size with the age of both male and female adult participants. In all measurements, the third ventricle size of male participants was greater than that of female participants.
