Abstract

Evidence Based Psychological Interventions for Improving Depression and Anxiety Outcomes

Jonathan Mitchell*

Psychological interventions are structured therapeutic approaches designed to improve emotional wellbeing, modify maladaptive thoughts and behaviors and enhance an individual's ability to cope with psychological distress. These interventions have become fundamental components of modern mental healthcare because they address the cognitive, emotional, behavioral and interpersonal factors that contribute to depression and anxiety [1]. Extensive scientific evidence has demonstrated that psychological interventions are effective across diverse age groups, cultural settings and clinical conditions. Contemporary treatment guidelines recommend these therapies either as first line treatment for mild to moderate disorders or in combination with pharmacological therapy for more severe psychiatric illnesses [2].
