Anxiety symptoms are among the most frequently reported manifestations of mental health disorders and affect individuals across all stages of life. Although anxiety is a normal adaptive response that prepares the body to respond to potential threats, persistent or excessive anxiety can impair emotional wellbeing, cognitive functioning, physical health and social relationships. Early recognition of anxiety symptoms is essential because prompt intervention reduces symptom progression, improves treatment outcomes and minimizes long term functional impairment. Contemporary research emphasizes that anxiety symptoms arise through complex interactions among biological, psychological and environmental factors rather than from a single underlying cause. Anxiety symptoms vary considerably in their intensity, duration and clinical presentation depending on the specific disorder and individual characteristics.
