Abstract

Anxiety Disorders Current Insights Into Biological Pathways Psychological Processes and Recovery

Sofia Williams*

Anxiety disorders represent a major category of mental health conditions characterized by excessive fear, persistent worry and disturbances in emotional regulation. These disorders arise from complex interactions between genetic, neurological, psychological and environmental factors. Anxiety is a natural human response that prepares individuals to recognize and respond to potential threats. It plays an important role in survival by activating alertness and protective behaviors. However, when anxiety becomes excessive, uncontrollable and persistent, it may develop into a clinical disorder. Anxiety disorders affect millions of individuals worldwide and are among the most common mental health conditions. Modern research suggests that anxiety disorders cannot be explained by a single cause. Instead, they result from a combination of biological vulnerability, psychological experiences, social influences and environmental stressors.
