Atherosclerosis-Major threat now-a-days

Atherosclerosis is a disease in which plaque builds up inside your arteries. Arteries are blood vessels that carry oxygen-rich blood to your heart and other parts of your body. Plaque is made up of fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances found in the blood. Atherosclerosis is a hardening and narrowing of your arteries. It can put blood flow at risk as your arteries become blocked.

Atherosclerosis often has no symptoms until a plaque ruptures or the build-up is severe enough to block blood flow.

A healthy diet and exercise can help. Treatments include medication, procedures to open blocked arteries and surgery.
