Diabetic Drugs

People with diabetes need medications to improve sugar absorption or manage insulin levels in the body. The type of medicines used vary greatly between diabetes types. People with type 1 diabetes, also known as Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM) produce insufficient insulin, which can lead to unbalanced blood sugar, so replacement of insulin must be delivered by injection, pump or inhalation. In type 2 diabetes, also known as Non Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (NIDDM) if patients does not control their blood sugar levels by diet and exercise then an oral medication must be added to the treatment plan.
