Abstract:

As of today, it is insufficient to merely have the capacity to place an implant that is osseointergrated and to consider that as a successful treatment. Namely, it is necessary, not only to recover the function but to also maintain the long lasting aesthetic standards of final restoration. For those reasons, it is of paramount importance to able to rebuild sufficient volume of bone surrounding the implant, while utilizing different guided bone regeneration methods. It is also crucial to restore the quality and quantity of soft tissues around the peri-implant space.Various techniques of soft tissue grafting will be presented, highlighting the importance of creating favourable peri-implant environment that leads to long term and predictable outcome. Using connective tissue graft (CTG) is an essential prerequisite step for ensuring the soft tissue thickness around the implant, while the application of free gingival graft (FGG) is seminal for maintaining the width of keratinized tissue. Finally, the application of dynamic compression technique with modified temporary restorations will ensure ideal emergence profile, while properly designed final restorations, supporting the created soft tissue contours will ensure functionally and aesthetically favourable results, mimicking those of the nature.
