Abstract :

Prophetic medicine comprises a set of practices and principles that have been meticulously preserved over the centuries by Muslim scholars, who knew that each and every statement of Prophet Muhammad relating to health and sickness contained divinely inspired words of therapy for the greater benefit of humankind. The vast number of Prophetic traditions on diseases and remedies & health and wellness became known as at-Tibb an-Nabawi, the Medicine of the Prophet or the Prophet???s medicine. Prophetic medicine was practiced during the early days of Islam 14 centuries ago and found very effective. Prophet Muhammad made specific statements on 37 ailments and 61 medicinal plants, herbs and shrubs while making prescriptions for the sick people. Since Islam is the complete and eternal way of human life, it is expected that the true guidance of the Prophet should include all aspects of human life, including medicine and health, for the benefit of humankind. Because, man needs to remain well, free from sickness to fulfill his brief mission on earth. Therefore, although the Prophet???s arrival was not as a physician or pharmacist he was inspired by Allah SWT to make nearly 1000 statements relating to health, diseases, and treatment. Due to the increasing importance of the subject of Prophetic medicine in the last few decades, the Prophet???s statements on healing were examined globally by both non-Muslim and Muslim scientists in the light of modern knowledge. However, it is amazing that the researchers after carrying out hundreds of researches around the globe finally concluded that not a single statement of the Prophet is found to be contradictory to the basic principles of modern medical science. In this presentation, the learned audience will be enlightened about how Prophetic remedy can effectively cure numerous ailments particularly diabetes mellitus.
