Abstract:

Aim: Using chinese version of the Early Childhood Oral Health Impact Scale, to master the preschool children?s oral health status of Shihezi city in Xinjiang. Methods: 300 children aged 3-5 were recruited and their parents were asked to fill the questionnaire on diet habits and oral health behavior. Results: The analysis of the imputed data set showed that whole Cronbach?s alphas was 0. 899, and that Guttman split-half reliability coefficient was 0. 799. Variation scores of the early childhood oral health impact scale was apparent with respect to caries groups. Chinese scores the early childhood oral health impact scales were high associated with Oral health status, and were related to children?s eating habits and oral health behavior definitely. Conclusion: The Chinese version of ECOHIS demonstrated good reliability and validity. It is available for use by researches in Shihezi city of preschool children. Preschool children?s oral health problems are mainly caused by unhealthy diet behavior and oral habit and by making little of oral care by parents, etc.
