Abstract:

The photo-assisted deposition and impregnation (Img) synthesis of nano-sized Fe metal on TiO 2 -SiO 2 are reported. The prepared catalystswere characterized by different techniques such as XRD, XAFS, TEM and nitrogen adsorption analysis. Photocatalytic reactivity usingFe-TiO 2 -SiO 2 catalysts under visible-light condition on the reduction of Hg 2+ to Hg 0 were evaluated. The results have shown notablephotocatalytic activity of PAD-Fe/TiO 2 -SiO 2 which was 2 and 10 times higher than that of Img-Fe/ TiO 2 -SiO 2 and TiO 2 -SiO 2 , respectively

Elham Aazam has completed her Ph.D. from Sussex University, UK and is an associate professor at King Abdulaziz University at the Science College and chemistry department. She is the head of the Chemistry department at the female section; she has published 25 papers in reputed journals
