Abstract:

Aims & Objectives: Aim of the presentation is to focus on the strength of the interdisciplinary approach in the management of various complicated cases of impacted teeth.

Materials & Methods: Various techniques of resolving the impacted teeth will be presented to elaborate the important steps of biomechanics and discussed with the stage treatment photographs to ensure a thorough understanding. Interdisciplinary approach was preferred to provide the best out come to the patients. Full thickness flaps were reflected to adequately access the crown of the tooth so that tooth can erupt physiologically through the center of the alveolar ridge. Closed- eruption technique simulates the natural eruption process and is the most popular method for the deep impacted tooth to provide the attached gingiva around the newly erupted tooth was followed.

Results: The impacted teeth were successfully aligned in to the arch with sufficient amount of the attached gingiva around the newly erupted tooth. Average treatment duration was 22 months. The described techniques are both patient and the clinician friendly.

Conclusions: An interdisciplinary approach with a predictable and determinate biomechanics is always needed to bring deeply lying impacted teeth into its correct position in the dental arch without causing periodontal damage.
