Abstract:

Bichectomy, buccal fat removal or buccal lipectomy emerged in 1980s as a complementary procedure to cases in which the rhytidectomy did not obtain satisfactory results to harmonize the middle and lower third of the face. Nowadays, this technique has returned to prominence and has been widely used for thinning the face, following very precise indications. It is a simple and very safe surgical procedure, indicated for patients with a rounded and wide face, which can be performed as outpatient surgery under local anesthesia composed of 2% Mepivacaine and 1:100000 Epinephrine. The result is a harmonious middle and lower third of face.
