Biography

Dr. James E. Carroll, MD, received his medical degree from the University of Louisville and completed his training in child neurology at the University of Colorado. He served on the faculty of Washington University in St. Louis for eight years and then went to Georgia Health Sciences University in 1984 when he assumed the position there as Professor and Chief of Child Neurology, which is his current position. From 1988 to 1991 he was Professor of Pediatrics at Kuwait University Faculty of Medicine. He has published extensively in the areas of neuromuscular disease and more recently in experimental neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury and adult stem cell treatment. He reviews for a number of journals in the area of clinical and basic neuroscience and has served on NIH review panels. He currently conducts NIH and privately supported research in stem cell pre-clinical evaluation.

 

Research Interest

Clinical child neurology, neuromuscular disorders, genetic disorders, cerebral palsy, neonatal hypoxic-ischemic injury, adult stem cell therapy.
