Born and educated in Russia (applied mathematics/theoretical mechanics, 1974, St-Petersburg) he joined in the Medical School in Halifax since 2002.His expertise lies in mathematical modeling of complex biomedical systems, advanced data analysis and data mining. He is a co-developer of an integrated individualized measure of human health known as the Frailty Index (FI) which allows quantifyingthe rate of aging in individual and populations. He has over 100 peer reviewedpublications (some of them are highly cited), the score of presentations at the International meetings. He is a Fellow of the American Gerontological Society, Associate Editor of the BMC Geriatrics and Current Gerontology and Geriatrics Research and a reviewer for the two dozen of journals.

Research Interest

Mathematical modeling in biomedicine (Biomathematics). I am particularly interested in mathematical modeling of aging in individuals and populations. I am also interested in the development of health assessment tools using various data mining and machine learning techniques.
