Anke-Hilse Maitland-van der Zee

Anke-Hilse Maitland-van der Zee (1975) received a MSc in Pharmacy (1998), and a PharmD (1999) degree from Groningen University, the Netherlands. After that she undertook a PhD on the Pharmacogenetics of statins at Utrecht University, the Netherlands in 2003. She was post-doc at the University of Texas, School of Public Health, Human Genetics Center, Houston Tx, USA from 2003-2005. In 2005 was was appointed as assistant Professor Pharmacogenetics/genomics at Utrecht University. She is the chair of the European Research Network of Pharmacogenetics/genomics, the Netherlands Network of Pharmacogenetics, and she is co-chairing the FIP (International Federation of Pharmacy) special interest group on Individualized Medicine.
Her main area of research is in pharmacogenetics. The research aims to maximize the benefits of drugs (in particular cardiovascular drugs, drugs used in asthma, and anti-cancer drugs), and to minimize their harms (in particular drug induced liver injuries).
