Role of Blood Retinal Barrier in Drug Absorption

The blood-retinal barrier is the one of the earliest retinal changes in diabetes. The blood retinal barrier is a physiological barrier that regulates ion, protein and water flux in inner and outer retina. In blood-retinal barrier function vitreous fluorophotometry technique is an excellent technique to quantitate. The two most relevant retinal diseases are diabetic retinopathy and age related macular degeneration (AMD), are directly associated with alterations of the Blood retinal barrier (BRB).
