    Seroprevalence of HBsAg among HIV Infected Sudanese Patient in Khartoum State

    The rate of progression and complications from viral hepatitis are accelerated in patients with HIV co-infection. The aim of this study is to determine the seroprevalence of HBsAg in HIV positive infected patient in Khartoum state. This is a cross-sectional study conducted at the VCT centers in Khartoum state during the period from January to May 2018. A total of 92 subjects were recruited to participate in this study. Blood samples were collected from each patient. The samples were screened for HBsAg using ELISA (Acon Laboratories, Inc.), Results of this study showed a high prevalence of HBsAg infection (7.6%). HBsAg infection was higher among males than females, in the age group of 20-40 years and among patients on treatment.
