    HSV-2 Seropositivity among HIV Patients in Khartoum

    A cross-sectional study for HSV 2 seropositivity among HIV patients was performed at voluntary counseling and testing centers (VCT) Khartoum, Sudan during March to June 2016. 93 individuals were selected to participate in this study. Blood sample from each patient was collected. Samples were tested for antibodies to HSV II (IgM and IgG) using ELISA (EUROIMMUN/ORDER NO. EI 2532-9601-2 G.). The final interpretation of results showed a high prevalence of HSV II infection. HIV patients coinfected with herpes simplex II showed that the infection was higher in male patients as compared to females. The age cohort 35-44 years, patients not on HIV treatment and patients with low educational level indicated high seroprevalence of HSV-II. .. View More»
