Dr. Kamal Omer Abdalla has received his PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University Of Cape Town (UCT) during the period of 2005-2009. Currently, he is working as an Associate Professor of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Gadarif in Sudan. He has successfully completed his Administrative responsibilities as Director of Directorate of Scientific Research and Foreign Relations and Head of the Biochemistry Department. His research has included the investigation of Sudanese traditional medicines to treat chronic human diseases, application of proteomics technology to investigate biomarkers in plant and animal tissues; studying of social and health problems in his community. Based on this research and fellowship trainings he has received several awards and honors, such as scholarship to study for migration management diploma program in the University of Maastricht and the United Nations University in Maastricht in the Netherlands in 2015 funded by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Awarded cash prizes four times for excellence in authorship by the University of Gadarif in Sudan 2007-2014. Awarded permanent residence permit in the Republic of South Africa under the category of extraordinary skills in 2009. Awarded UCT international academic scholarship for academic merits in 2007. Awarded research bursary by the Molecular & Cell Biology department of the UCT for 2 years 2007-2008. Awarded full scholarship in a competitive basis to study in the former Soviet Union for Master’s Diploma program 1987-1993. Awarded cash prize when he was in intermediate school (Village-10 Alfau in Sudan) for talented pupil 1982. Granted the membership of the International Commission on Scientific Signs in Qur’an and Sunnah of the Muslim World League 2015. Sponsored member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) during 2008-2010.
He is serving as an editorial member of several reputed Journals (physiology & biochemistry, Independent J. of management and Production and many others, he respectfully rejected the offers to be an editorial member for these journals), editorial member of Gadarif University Journal of Sciences and Humanity & expert Reviewer for journals like Proteome Science. He has authored over 24 research articles and 5 books.
