Severe Mental Disorder (SMD) is defined by three criteria: presence of a serious mental illness (typically psychotic or severe affective disorders), accompanied by a prolonged moderate or serious functional incapacity, with most patients having received two or more years of controlled treatment from the mental healthcare services
