Abstract

Anticancer Compounds from Chaetomium globosum

Moubasher Hani and Hamed Eman

The present work resulted in isolation and purification of two potential anticancer compounds from Chaetomium globosum isolated from Egyptian soil. The two compounds were tested against Michigan Cancer Foundation-7(MCF-7) breast cancer cell line and Hepatocellular carcinoma, Human (HEPG-2) a human liver carcinoma cell line and showed inhibition effect on the proliferation of two cell lines. The structures of the two pure compounds were elucidated by HNMR and Mass spectroscopy as methyl 9-dihydro-8-trihydroxy-9-oxo-Hxanthene- 1-carboxylate as a member of xanthones and (E)-methyl 2-hydroxy-6, 6-dimethyl hept-3-enoate.
